St John Ward Councillor Matthew Dorrance has presented Brecon Hospital’s League of Friends with a cheque following a successful fundraising event to mark the seventieth anniversary of the foundation of our NHS.

The special event held at Brecon’s Guild Hall and sponsored by the GMB Union also saw a birthday card and seventieth birthday cake presented to Brecon Hospital staff.

Cllr Matthew Dorrance said:

“I’d like to thank everyone who supported the NHS birthday party I held recently.  I was also delighted so many people signed the NHS 70th Birthday Card which was presented to staff from Brecon Hospital with a cake donated by local baker Ray Savage.

“By coming together, our community helped raise over £400 for our Hospital’s League of Friends.  They’re an incredible support for our local Hospital and I know the money will be put to good use.

“It was a great event celebrating an institution that touches all of our lives. It truly is Labour’s proudest achievement.”

Chair of the Brecon Hospital League of Friends Fiona Jones said:

“Each year the Hospital gives us a list of the items they need support to buy.  This money will help us keep supporting Brecon Hospital and we are grateful to everyone who donated.”
