Matthew Dorrance has written to the Conservative Cabinet Member for School catering at Powys County Council and urged him to put Christmas Dinner back on the menu in schools across the County.

His intervention comes after the Council published its School Christmas Lunch Menu which included a “filled sandwich” and a “Pizza Finger”.

In his email, Cllr Dorrance said:

“For a number of children, the school dinner is the most nutritious meal of the day and if your service continues to push ahead with its proposals, those children will miss out.

“My Welsh Labour colleague, Cllr Sandra Davies, attempted to ask an urgent question at the last Council meeting on this issue but her request was denied.  That means Councillors have not had the opportunity to discuss the decision.

The Welsh Labour and Co-operative Councillor urged the Cabinet to change its mind “before Powys County Council is known throughout Wales as the Grinch that stole Christmas.”
