The Conservative and Independent Councillors who run Powys County Council are planning to stop funding School Breakfast Clubs in Powys.
The plans, which were released as part of the Council’s budget for the coming financial year, are opposed by Labour Councillors.
Cllr Matthew Dorrance said:
“School Breakfast Clubs are an important part of a child’s day.
“We know that having a healthy breakfast helps to improve children’s health and concentration, which helps them to learn better. It’s why Welsh Labour created School Breakfast Clubs in the first place.
“By stopping the funding for these important clubs, the Council is taking a healthy start to the day away from our young people.
“I’m not going to stand by while the Council robs our school children of their breakfast.”
