Statement from Powys County Council’s Welsh Labour Group

Speaking after Powys County Council’s budget meeting Labour Group Leader Cllr Matthew Dorrance said:

“The Conservative and Independent Coalition brought this massive defeat on themselves.

“They failed to listen to what Councillors and our communities told them and they failed to understand our concerns.

“The Cabinet is out of touch with our citizens and our communities.

“Conservative and Independent Cabinet members need to reflect on the message Councillors from across the political spectrum have sent them.

“Labour Councillors stand ready to work across the Chamber to set a budget that protects our communities from the worst of austerity without placing such an unfair burden on Council tax payers.”
