Brecon’s St John Ward Councillor Matthew Dorrance has urged Powys County Council to provide a temporary library service for the town after they announced that Brecon Library would close for a nearly month from 9th November until 5th December 2019 to enable the service to move into y Gaer.
Matthew says:
“Library services are really important for our community and whilst it’s good news that we’re finally seeing progress on the move into y Gaer, it’s disappointing that Brecon will be without a library for a nearly month.
“I’ve asked the Council to consider providing a temporary facility to bridge this gap which will ensure residents can continue to access services.
“People in Brecon need a functioning library with access to IT for job searches and social security claims, older people need support to renew bus passes and we need to be able to borrow books.”
