Powys County Council has announced that it plans to withdraw funding for the public toilets at Brecon’s bus interchange.
Cllr Matthew Dorrance is fighting the plans and says closure of the toilets would be a disaster for Brecon – a town which depends on tourism.
Matthew says: “The Council’s own public toilet strategy recognises that public toilets are an important factor in delivering an “open and inclusive environment” that encourages people to socialise, exercise, and to be more physically active, as well as spend time in our town centres.
“Closing more public toilets will damage the local economy and increase loneliness and social isolation.”
Matthew has raised the issue with the Town Council who already deliver toilet facilities at Lion Yard and the Prom.
