MATTHEW HAS URGED POWYS COUNTY COUNCIL TO SUPPORT JOBS, BUSINESSES AND THE LOCAL ECONOMY TO HELP BRECON RECOVER FROM COVID-19

COVID-19 has hit our economy hard. Working people, businesses and our local services have all been affected by the economic shock the virus created.

As lockdown measures are eased, Matthew has urged the Council to take action which supports our local economy and backs our local High Street.

Matthew is engaging with business owners to develop plans that help Brecon build back better.

He is also working with County Councillors Liz Rijnenberg and David Meredith and the Town Council.

Matthew has welcomed the County Council’s decision to provide two hours free parking during August which comes after he pressed them for action.

Matthew says: “Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, our small businesses have really supported our community and been there for us.

“We’re lucky to have such a wonderful selection of small businesses in Brecon and I am asking residents to join me and pledge to shop local where you can.

“If we all do what we can to shop locally, we can support our High Street and help sustain local jobs in our community.”
