Commenting on the announcement that Brecon Barracks has been saved from closure, Cllr Matthew Dorrance said:

“I am delighted that the UK Conservative Government has finally abandoned its plans to close Brecon Barracks. After years of uncertainty about the future this is good news for the community, and I welcome the decision.

“I’m grateful to everyone who has worked to save the Barracks in Brecon and those who supported the local Labour Party’s petition and campaign.

“This is a good result for Brecon and for our Armed Forces in Wales.”
